Funny Girl, Happy Boy

This morning Matthew's throat hurts and has put him in a less than chipper mood. He was a little whiney and laying on Abba's floor. I was doing my morning chores after breakfast and getting them dressed and putting away laundry. When I went into Matthew's room Abba was in there getting his favorite stuffed animal that he sleeps with every night "George" the squirrel and one of his new toys from Christmas, a bug vaccum. I thought OH NO. She's just going to pester him playing with his things and that will really set him off. I asked gently, "What are you going to do?" She replied "Cheer up Matthew". In my mind I was saying I highly doubt that. Off she went back to her room trying to suck up George into the bug vaccum all the while singing and laughing very loud "George, George, George of the jungle watch out for that tree". Matthew laughed so hard he got the hiccups and I smiled so big I got tears in my eyes.

Sometimes they squabble, sometimes they pester, and sometimes they know better than to squabble and pester and give just what the other one needs. It was a reward for me to see that all the correction and teaching really has paid off. In my experience, you must love your family but that certainly doesn't mean you have to like them.

My prayer today is that my children will still like each other in spite of the fact that they are family. AMEN
