My Annie

Annie's shower was today and it was a sweet success. She was surrounded by love and got some really nice stuff. If she forgot anything she was given it would have been okay with me. Speaking of, why don't we have a mid-life shower? You know all those things you should have registered for but didn't or replace the things that are embarrassing (like our towels).

Now back to reality. A little about "my annie". Many call her Analee, most call her Anna, but we call her Annie. I always wanted a little sister. I promised my mom once that I would be much nicer to a little sister than my sister was to me. Well, it was a good thing my parents didn't have more kids but God knew it was on my heart and I finally got one. She calls me her big sis and I'm proud to finally have a little sister to be nice too. You know, someone to share all your wisdom with. Kind of like a practice run before I mess up my own kids. :) She's a great girl and I'll be proud to stand up beside her when she gets married. I really thought she was crazy to want an old lady up there with her but it's an honor to be part of her "family by choice".

We love you Annie.

What a week!

Hi ya'll. Long time no post. My co-worker was out sick this week so I got to teach 12, 3 & 4 year olds all by myself. It actually went very smooth and it was fun to be the lead teacher. That part was easy I think it's all the preparation work that is so hard because it's time consuming. Matthew also came down with a tiny ear infection, poor guy. He was back at school the next day and even played in the soccer game today. Abba however, was not up for playing AGAIN. She got more laughs this week for playing soccer with her teddy bear on the field. I actually had people suggesting that maybe she should stick to dance. YA THINK? Thanks to dad for helping out twice today. He joined us at the soccer game and he watched the kiddos for me while I went to Annie's lingerie shower at her future aunt-in-laws. It was a great time and we played a party game I actually liked. It was to tell 2 things about yourself that were true and 1 that was a lie and then everyone had to guess which one was false. One of the lie's still has me laughing. I also took a picture of the adorable cake she purchased at a local bakery. Isn't it cute? I liked the fact that it was unique and yummy and I didn't make it. :)

"Soccer Mom"

Today was our 2nd soccer game. We made progress as far as actually playing. Abba got lots of laughs from the sidelines. She was kind of like those kids that are in weddings for entertainment. Well, she certainly was entertaining and not because of her playing skills, even though she did kick the ball a few times. The coach couldn't get her to move so he would just pick her up like a statue and relocate her on the field. It was priceless. Instead of going for the ball she would actually duck and squint when all the kids were coming towards her. On the other hand, Matthew likes to play but has issues with kicking the ball down the field. He tries so hard to keep the ball away from the other team. He's not very aggressive on the field, or off the field for that matter. It's funny how you can tell their personalities even when they are playing sports. After this season Abba may stick with dance for a while and Matthew wants to continue and try new sports. Regardless of their soccer skills they sure look cute!

It's Pajama Time...

Well, Monday was a fun and yet exhausting day. All us girls went a shoppin'; Martha, B, Lauren, Sara, Abba and myself. They splurged on Abba some adorable PJ's and some other artsy stuff for the kids. Thanks ya'll, they love their goodies and doesn't she look too cute for bed?

Goin' to the country

Why is a pile of dirt so much fun?
Abba, Brenda, Sara and Lauren
Matthew in the middle of West Texas

Well, we made a treck over to the middle of West Texas Saturday. We had a great time at Martha's house spending time with B. and the girls. We all loved being outside chasing butterflies, picking up pecans and playing in the dirt. It was so relaxing, sometimes I wished we lived a little further on out on some land, maybe I wouldn't have to worry about the kids as much but then we would miss our awesome neighbors.

It's been a rough week for many of the people that I love and care about. I've shed tears several times this week. I'm so sorry for all the difficulties everyone has faced. My prayer is that the Lord will sustain you with his strength and love, and that you will search for peace and find it.

Who does this remind you of ?

Well, it all started when I could no longer see the bottom of Abba's closet so Abba and I started cleaning. This little girl loves to clean which is good since she's so great at making messes. While I was hanging and shoving and sorting she was walking through her room with a wet washcloth wiping everything down. Obviously that's why her shirt is so wet. Then she decided she need to do some ironing, which she loves. About that time Mark calls and talks to the kids. When I saw this image I went straight for my camera so I could share it with you. It's mini me, talking on the phone and ironing. The only difference is, I can't talk on the phone and iron and my pile of clothes is certainly much larger than her wash cloth and of course, I don't "love it". But she looks awfully cute and happy mimicking me!

Ballerina

Abba at dance class today

Abba with her dance teacher, that she loves.
Shower # 3 for me
It's that busy time of year with end of school approaching and May is going to be even more chaotic. I still have 2 more showers for the month. One I'm just helping with and Annie's bridal shower that will be here at the house. I'm looking forward to them both.
Today Abba had dance class that will soon be coming to an end. She got her costume today and we went over all the recital specifics. Of course, I volunteered to be room mom backstage. Abba and I are still discussing it but I feel like I belong backstage. I always want her to remember me being there. I love recital time and miss the years I was stage director or assistant director.
Today I was putting new car tags on my windshield when I realized my inspection sticker was 6 months overdue. HA. So back to the dealership we went. It may seem like we visit up there frequently but with Mark's work schedule 7 to 7 - 6 days a week. If we want to see him then we know where to find him. I think some of the guys were disappointed today when I didnt' show up with some sort of food.
Well, I've got to go make peanut butter balls for the kids and get ready to teach tomorrow. My class is planting flowers in honor of Spring. It will be messy fun.

Just a Swingin'

Well, while we are sitting on the back porch, lounging and eating bon bons, (are those things still around anyway?) the kids can play on our new swing set. Yeah, yeah it's about time we got our kids a swing set and it's been a long wait. The kids are ecstatic and we can't keep 'em off it. You can have one too from K-mart on sale this week. :) I hope all my vendors appreciate the free advertising. And just in case you are wondering, Mark did put it together with a little help from me. Thanks honey!
