Abba's Wink

Abba's dance recital was last weekend and she made us all so proud. She did her best which was amazing for a 4 year old. Her little dance called for them to wink and as you can see Abba had the best wink! I'm not biased or anything. Dress Rehearsal was also her 1st time to wear mascara and she was extremely proud to have make-up on. At rehearsal and recital she just tippy toed around like she was the most glamorous little thing ever. After her big debut she was gifted by us with her 1st ever roses and then we took her out to eat. Yes, I did cry when the music started, just thinking about it I'm tearing up now. My little girl, a dancer. Even I feel like I'm dreaming.

Graduation

Matthew's 2008 T-K (transition kindergarten) graduating class.

I am so proud of how much he has learned and grown over the past school year. He is reading and writing sentences and even doing math on a number line. He is more than ready for Kindergarten next year. At the graduation he even had to get up and say his own speech from memory: " I am Matthew as you can see I like to laugh with lots of glee, My reading is fun, My numbers soon done, My name is Matthew and I am as smart as can be!" He was adorable and we are so proud of him. I will miss being so close to him next year. Being able to work at his school has been such a great advantage as a mom. I got to know how he deals with his peers, how he participates and behaves on a daily basis when I'm not supposed to be around. I am so glad summer is here so we can spend every hour of every day together. I'm glad to have my little man back under my wing before he soars a little more next year.

How much is that doggy in the window?

I have to say that today was a super fun day even for a mom like me. It's 9:45 and even though I'm tired, I'm excited to blog about the fun we shared today. It all started this morning when I was halfway watching Good Morning America while getting ready for our a.m. adventure. Those savvy news anchors were making suggestions about staying closer to home or just staying at home and creating a vacation since gas prices are ridiculous. I loved it. Of course, these people weren't doing it "Texas style" they were creating outdoor movie theater's in their own backyards and who knows what else. All I could think of was the tent in my attic that's been collecting dust ever since I recieved it as a gift 9 years ago. The tent is still unopened in original packaging. I guess I've always had the fear that if I took it out I'd never get it back in. Anyway off we went on our last field trip. Matthew did graduate yesterday (I'll post pics later) but technically today was the last day of school. We met his class downtown for a ride on the trolley and a tour of the Grace Museum. The Trolley "conductor?" was adorable. He sang for the kids and had them barking to "How much is that doggy in the window?" He also stopped at the bus station and picked up coloring books for the kids. When we made it to the Grace we had the whole place to ourselves which was relaxing and fun. Then we headed home and met Boba here. He watched the kids for me while I went to our last day of school "Teacher Lunch". The Director bought lunch for all of us at Copper Creek. By the way, their lunch menu is reasonable and it was far from being crowded. However, the lunchers got an earful when the director raised her hands and all (27 of us) chimed in with our children's lunch/prayer/song. Open and shut them. I'm not sure the waiters knew what to think of 27 women clapping and praying very loudly. Obviously, everyone thought we were Crazy. But aren't pre-school teachers a little nuts anyway? When I finally made it home I changed into comfy's and climbed in that attic to bring down that dusty, insulation covered tent in a bag. Thank goodness Boba stood at the bottom so I had someone to hand it to. He was glad to catch it and even more glad I didn't ask him to put it together. When it started to cool off a little I assembled it myself and it was actually pretty easy. The kids were so excited and begged to sleep in it. However, when bedtime rolled around they only made it an hour before Abba asked to come inside. Thank goodness were weren't far away at some park. So maybe this stay at home and have some fun isn't such a bad idea. We are planning a week vacation in the middle of the summer to take the kids to Sea World and the Beach. But in the meantime I'll try to think of some more things to do close to home. I am so glad summer vacation starts today! What are you going to do this summer?

Lemonade Stand

This morning Abba was up with the birds and early enough to narrate dadda getting ready for work this morning. "Dadda why are you putting on your belt? Do you need it? Or because it makes you look handsome? You do look handsome dadda, can you stay home and play today?" Mark - "Well Abba I have to go to work so we will have $$$ for food and stuff" Then as I'm trying to make the bed with my eyes still closed she asks me "mom we can we make a lemonade stand today?" I told her sure and asked her why? "So we can make $$$ so dadda doesn't have to go to work."

It was just dreamy how sweet she is and how much she loves her dadda so I had to take their picture with him so handsome and her so sweet. Then the day was off to a busy start. Matthew's class came over for an end of school year Friday Fun Day at our house. The kids were so sweet and had fun swimming and sliding and bicycling around. They even played Bingo and got some really cute prizes. It was fun and exhausting but I'm glad we were able to host it. Just in case your hungry I have enough Hot Dogs leftover to feed the neighbors and then some. Can you believe it's 90 degrees outside and school is almost over? What are your plans for the summer?

Kinder Man

Today was the day I enrolled my little man in kindergarten. I was so proud of him. I know you all have a hard time believing I was shy or ever walked into an environment and felt intimidated and uncomfortable but I still do. Matthew however shined today looking around his new school. I was proud of his confidence, good manners and of course his smarts. We can't see the future but today was one of those moments I've looked forward to and it was GREAT.
